Skylar + Greg
Wow! Skylar looked so glamorous. After seeing her put on her white sheath gown, red lipstick, and heels, I thought she might knock out her groom at first glance. She was just stunning. Greg’s surprised smile from ear-to-ear when he turned around their first look says it all. Skylar and Greg are an amazing couple—two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met! He has the most genuine, fun-loving personality, and she is so kind and grateful. Family means everything to them, and they both compliment each other so well. It truly was a pleasure to capture their wedding day.
A Beautiful Beginning
Skylar and Greg both attended Pittsford Mendon High School (go Vikings) in Rochester, NY. They had some mutual friends (including Greg’s mom, who worked at the school), but they were not particularly interested in one another at the time. Greg graduated in 2006, along with Skylar’s older brother Hawk, and Skylar graduated two years later. Fast forward to the summer of 2016 when their paths crossed again. Skylar was contemplating a move to NYC and had moved back in with her parents as she applied for jobs. Greg was killing time in Rochester between business school and his new job in Chicago. So, they were both living in their respective childhood homes in Pittsford when they swiped right.
Their story is the sweetest:
Neither of them was sure if their first date was really a date, as they were riding bikes to Lock 32 and Greg had asked if Hawk wanted to come along (he did not). It turned out to be a date, and it went so far into the evening that Greg’s mom called, very concerned about him riding his bike so late at night. Skylar’s parents were also confused and kept turning the lights on and off as the two said goodnight (with their bikes and helmets) in the driveway.
In February of 2018, about a year after Skylar moved to Chicago, Greg lied about a #metoo mural by the canal in Pittsford to get right across from where they had their first date at Lock 32. She was bummed there was no mural but said ‘yes’ nonetheless when Greg got down on one knee in the snow and asked her to marry him. This time, both of their families were waiting for them across the canal and no one even had to bike home in the dark!
Congratulations, and very best wishes to you, Skylar & Greg!
