How it Started
“It all started with a textbook…
They were teammates on the University of Rochester cross country and track team and shared the same major (Audio and Music Engineering). It wasn’t until Ayumi’s junior year that they started talking when she asked to borrow one of Jeremy’s textbooks. Soon enough, conversations expanded beyond the class subject, and Jeremy asked Ayumi on a first date to Chipotle. While Jeremy admitted that this was one of his first times going to Chipotle (clearly – he ordered a burrito with just rice, meat, and cheese!), Ayumi was touched that he chose Chipotle because he knew that this was one of her favorite places to eat… so touched that she wanted to date him despite studying abroad in England the following semester!”
How he proposed
“After long distance and dating in college, Ayumi and Jeremy moved into their first (and current) cozy apartment. Since then, they have created many memories together – from weekend coffee dates, running marathons, adventures with photography, to becoming bearded dragon parents to Sydney, it became apparent that they had something truly special. On May 16th, 2021, when Ayumi thought she was setting up their usual self-timer photo, Jeremy proposed to her under a waterfall at Letchworth State Park. Of course she said yes!“
